The dances stand in two lines, headed by their leader. The structure of the dance as described by Iztueta coincides with its current form. There are two melodies, A and B, of eight bars each. They are played one after the other and between them make up 16 bars. The first time around the 16 bars are played slowly, and the second time more quickly, making up 32 bars in all. The dance is preceded by the announcement of the melody and the call.
