The melodies used to dance the uztai txikiena (Dance of the Small Arches) are well known in many places. Juan Antonio Urbeltz points out, for example, that the zortziko is a rhythm that is known in various European regions. On the other hand, José Ignacio Ansorena stated the following with respect to the set: “Apart from being very well known in Galicia and Asturias as a bagpipe melody, I have had the opportunity to see it written down and called La Gallegada among the papesr of some old piper. On the other hand, [this melody] is similar to one that is played in the first act of Iphigenia Auliden, the opera by the Baroque compositor, Gluck". |
