The soka-dantza is danced in Azpeitia on July 31st, St. Ignacio’s Day. After the traditional high mass held in the Loiola Basilica, the aurresku is danced in the town square at 13.00 hours. The Itsasi dance group is entrusted with dancing the soka-dantza and between 16 and 20 dantzaris take part, half of which are men and half women. The aurrendari or aurresku and the azkenki or atzesku lead the dance.
