The Amezketan txantxos are danced during carnival. They are similar to the Albaltzisketa txantxos, even though the number of dantzaris and costumes are different. The group comprises 12 or 15 dantzaris in Amezketa. The following characters take part in the performance with the dantzaris: mozorroa, zesterua and soinujolea. On Carnival Sunday, they go from farmstead to farmstead asking for money. The dantzaris use two small sticks and they use them to dance the makila-dantza. They bang their sticks together to the rhythm of the music as they go along the route. The mozorro carries a brush in his hand, which he uses to clean the hall of the farmsteads so that the dantzaris can then dance the makila-dantza. The zesterua is in charge of collecting the gifts of food and drink from the baserritarras. The Ugarte ingurutxo is danced in the Ugarte district of Amezketa on the first Sunday of October. It is very similar to the ingurutxo that is danced in Bedaio and also has some similar features to the Leitza ingurutxo. The dance begins once the High Mass has finished and is led by the church warden. The dantzaris are organised in pairs and there is no limit to how many of them can take part in the dance.
