
On August 10th, the festivity of San Lorenzo, the “San Juan iantzak” (St. John’s dances) are danced in Berastegi. These dances are danced in the afternoon and the dance group consists of 12 dantzaris and a leader. The St. John’s dance cycle comprises nine dances: paseo,
lauko txikia (quarter),
kontrapaseoa (contrapasso),
kapitan-dantza (captain’s dance),
zorri-dantza (dance of the fleas),
seikoa (sextet),
brokel-dantza (buckler dance),
billantzikoa (wassail) and
bukaera (finale).

The
dantza-soka is usually danced in Berastegi on the day after San Lorenzo, in other words, August 11th. The performance takes place at sunset and the adult dantzaris dance, which is which it is known as the adults'
dantza-soka.
